Massemord: Let the world burn
03/09/08 || Kampfar
There are currently two bands named Massemord, translating to mass murder in both cases, none of which has a Norwegian, or Dane, onboard. I don’t exactly give much of a fuck, I would be a retard if, only it looks rather stupid when a band of Italians are considered a Norwegian unit just because they once had a fuckwit from these shores of whores on the team. I’m thinking about the other Massemord here, a band with two members, both Italian. Then again, I’ve only checked with The Metal Archives and I’ve also got some Poles to review.
If familiar with Furia, which I ain’t, you are already friends with or fiends of Nihil, Voldtekt, Sars and Namtar, leaving Darkside, the drummer, the only member without any ties to just mentioned band. Three of the members are also to be found in Quintessence of Hate, but now I really have to say some words about “Let the world burn”.
Relentless, fast paced black metal is a snappy way of describing “LTWB”, about 80% correct I’d say, as this album has an average speed of many, many bpm’s. Not very impressive in itself, I know, but if you add excellent guitar work, a likewise snarl, a bass played well and at least sensed, some fine fucking songwriting, as in knowing when to take shit down a notch or ten, you sure get something really rather impressive.
And the adding isn’t over yet, soon, I promise, but before I go I’ll also mention that “LTWB” comes with an utterly fitting, loud, detailed and sort of violent(!?), production. Together it and this band convey energy in such amounts I can’t help being impressed, and firmly believe the rumor telling Polish amphetamine to be shitty good.
If you fancy the idea of The Legion spiced with a bit of Tsjuder, and then some, buy it already.
Assholes.
8,5 out of 10.
